EMILYs List Congratulates U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Her Reelection to the United States Senate

November 6, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Sen. Amy Klobuchar on her reelection to the U.S. Senate representing Minnesota. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to congratulate Sen. Amy Klobuchar on her reelection to the U.S. Senate. Sen. Klobuchar has consistently fought to protect our reproductive freedoms and abortion access and continues to advocate for women and families across the United States. We look forward to watching her continued success while fighting for Minnesotans.”

EMILYs List has proudly supported Sen. Amy Klobuchar since 2006, when she became the first woman elected to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Klobuchar first became involved in politics after an eye-opening experience following the birth of her daughter Abigail that required a stay in the intensive care unit where despite Klobuchar’s medical needs, harsh insurance policies only allowed for a 24-hour hospital stay. Since becoming the first woman to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Klobuchar has remained a steadfast advocate for women, families, and workers in Minnesota. Unafraid to work across the aisle, Sen. Klobuchar has been a prominent force in efforts to protect reproductive rights, lower prescription drug costs, protect workers, and much more. She was recognized by a Vanderbilt University analysis as being the most effective Democratic Senator in 2019.

The EMILYs List community also contributed over $85,000 for Amy Klobuchar this cycle.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
