FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Melanie Levesque for New Hampshire Executive Council District 5. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Former state Sen. Melanie Levesque has a proven track record of fighting for Granite Staters and we are proud to endorse her for the New Hampshire Executive Council. She is an experienced leader that will protect reproductive freedom and build thriving communities, and is ready to unseat anti-choice extremist Dave Wheeler. EMILYs List is thrilled to support her as she works to become the first person of color elected to the Executive Council.”

Melanie Levesque served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and state Senate. She made history by becoming the first Black senator in New Hampshire’s history. While in the state Senate, she was the chairwoman of the Senate Election Law and Municipal Affairs Committee, where she advocated for modernizing our election processes and election security. Additionally, Levesque was a member of the Senate Transportation and Senate Judiciary committees. She is an active member of her community, and has served on several boards and committees, including the Hollis-Brookline Coop School Board and the New Hampshire Endowment for Health Advisory Committee.

EMILYs List previously endorsed Levesque in her campaigns for the state Senate in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
