EMILYs List Statement on Women’s History Month and Women of Color Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In celebration of Women’s History Month and Women of Color Day, Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“As we begin Women’s History Month, we recognize the progress women have made over the years — in political office, in boardrooms, and in our community, but also understand that there is still much work to be done to achieve true equality for all women, no matter where they live, what they look like, or their backgrounds. We must not stop our fight to stand up for women’s voices and rights, especially now when we are up against a White House and an administration that will stop at nothing to halt women’s progress in its tracks and roll back our constitutionally-guaranteed rights.”

“Today we also celebrate Women of Color Day, and recognize the work women of color have done to drive the fight for equality and justice — not just for the women’s movement, but throughout history — for civil rights, women’s rights, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, and other causes. While they have not received the credit due for forging the path ahead for others, we know that women of color are the backbone of these movements, and will continue to be the backbone of a Democratic Party committed to expanding opportunities for women and all Americans — no matter their backgrounds.”
