EMILYs List Congratulates Maria Revelles on Her Primary Victory in Florida House District 47
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Maria Revelles on her primary victory in Florida House District 47. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List congratulates Maria Revelles on her primary victory in Florida House District 47. Her commitment to her community can be seen through her efforts to improve the quality of lives in the Central Florida area. Revelles is a trusted leader in her community and we know she will fight for better housing, health care access, and quality education. With Florida having one of the strictest abortion bans in the nation, we know Revelles will stand up to anti-abortion extremists in the Florida Legislature to restore reproductive rights. We are proud to support her in this election and look forward to the great work she will do.”
Maria Revelles is a community leader and organizer who has spearheaded efforts to provide accessible and affordable housing for her community. She served as the founding director of Chispa with Florida Conservation Voters and the director of Vamos4Puerto Rico in Florida. She is committed to improving access to quality education, housing, jobs, and health care. Maria will fight to protect our rights and freedoms, and give all hardworking families a fair shot at a better future. If elected, Revelles would be the first Latina to represent Florida House District 47.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
