EMILYs List Endorses Assemblywoman Angie Taylor for Nevada State Senate District 15
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Assemblywoman Angie Taylor for Nevada state Senate District 15. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Assemblywoman Angie Taylor is an educator passionate about improving the lives of all Nevadans, and EMILYs List is proud to endorse her for the Nevada state Senate. In the Assembly, Taylor has fought to secure quality education, protect reproductive rights, and reduce crime. We know she’ll bring that same dedication to the Nevada Senate and we are thrilled to continue protecting the progress Democratic pro-choice women have made in the state.”
Angie Taylor is currently a member of the Nevada state Assembly representing District 27. Her mother instilled in her the value of education and she went on to attend the University of Nevada, becoming a first generation college graduate. Taylor previously served on the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees and also worked as a professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. She credits her passion for education and seeing students’ smiling faces as one of the reasons she decided to run for public office. She is active in her community and has affiliations with the Boys and Girls Club, the NAACP, the Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society, the Nevada Women’s Fund, and the University of Nevada Intercollegiate Athletics. In the state Assembly, Taylor serves as the vice chair of the Education committee and is a member of both the Government Affairs and Health and Human Services committees. EMILYs List previously endorsed Taylor in 2022. If elected, Taylor would be the first Black woman in this seat.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
