EMILYs List Congratulates Rachel Hunt on Advancing to the General Election for North Carolina Lieutenant Governor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Rachel Hunt on advancing to the general election for North Carolina lieutenant governor. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to celebrate Rachel Hunt’s advancement to the general election for North Carolina’s lieutenant governor. Sen. Hunt will fight back against the radical Republican agenda to restrict abortion even further in the state and work to ensure every North Carolinian has access to the reproductive health care they need. We are proud of Hunt’s victory and look forward to helping her flip this office from red to blue in November.” 

State Sen. Rachel Hunt is the current state senator for North Carolina’s 42nd Senate District. Prior to being elected to that office in 2022, she served two terms as the representative for the state’s 103rd House District. Hunt is also a lawyer, entrepreneur, and the daughter of former four-term North Carolina Gov. Jim Hunt, whom she credits with instilling in her a passion for public service and democracy. In the state legislature, Hunt has been a champion for education, health care, and North Carolina’s families, and she is running for lieutenant governor to bring “honor and integrity back to the office.”
