FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Janelle Stelson for election to Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. EMILYs List Interim President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Janelle Stelson is the right candidate to take on anti-abortion extremist Rep. Scott Perry in November. She has been serving Pennsylvanians for decades, fighting for truth and leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice. Stelson is committed to reproductive freedom and protecting the right to determine the course of our lives, our bodies and our futures. EMILYs List is proud to stand by this pro-choice champion.”

Janelle Stelson is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist with a nearly 40-year track record of listening to Pennsylvanians and fighting to deliver them the truth. Prior to running for Congress, Stelson spent 26 years as an anchor of the highest-rated news show in the Harrisburg media market, which encompasses all of Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. Her work as a journalist has taken her all over central Pennsylvania, covering the issues that matter most to people and giving her up close and personal knowledge of the challenges — and opportunities — they face. Senior News has repeatedly named Stelson “Best News Anchor” in honor of her outstanding work. After working at WHTM-TV in Harrisburg, Stelson joined Susquehanna Valley’s WGAL in 1997 and has been involved in the betterment of central Pennsylvanians ever since.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
