EMILYs List Statement on Extremist Anti-Abortion Rally in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In advance of today’s “March for Life,” an anti-abortion rally that will include House Speaker Mike Johnson as a speaker, EMILYs List Interim President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“There is no denying that abortion is on the ballot in 2024. The anti-choice activists gathering in Washington, D.C. today represent an extremist minority that wants to strip us of our freedom to make our own decisions about our bodies, lives, and futures. They believe politicians should control our decisions, and their backward worldview should serve as an alarming reminder of the stakes in this election. 

“Republicans are doing exactly what they have been saying they would: taking every opportunity to ban abortion across the nation. In contrast, the Biden-Harris ticket and EMILYs List candidates are working tirelessly to ensure that we have the freedom to make our own personal health decisions. As extremists march on Washington, we are reminded how critical it is to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot to ensure reproductive freedom is protected.”
