EMILYs List Puts Michelle Steel “On Notice”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, announced that it was placing Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45) “On Notice.” Steel joins 22 other extremist anti-choice House Republicans as some of EMILYs List’s top targets to defeat in the 2024 election cycle. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
“Rep. Michelle Steel is one of the most virulently anti-choice politicians in the state of California. She voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act, cosponsored a bill that sought to allow providers to refuse to provide contraception on religious grounds, cosponsored an abortion ban that would have opened the doors to banning certain kinds of birth control, and accepted the endorsement of right-wing extremist group Susan B. Anthony List, which seeks to end abortion nationwide. There is nothing she will stop at to roll back the rights and freedoms of her constituents, and she must be replaced in the upcoming election.”
