EMILYs List Congratulates New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver on Reelection Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Secretary Maggie Toulouse Oliver on winning reelection in her New Mexico secretary of state race. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

We are proud to stand by this pro-choice champion as she fights at the intersection of voting and reproductive rights: she has improved voter access in New Mexico and modernized the region’s electoral process, ensuring that New Mexico’s pro-choice majority is truly represented by their elected officials amid nationwide attacks on our fundamental freedoms. We know that she will continue utilizing her position to advance equity and justice for every New Mexican, protecting voting rights and the state’s free and fair elections.”

Maggie Toulouse Oliver has called New Mexico home since age three and is currently serving as the state’s 26th secretary of state. She was first elected in 2016. In 2007, she was appointed as a County Clerk in Bernalillo County, N.M. where she served until her election as secretary of state. Before entering public service, Toulouse Oliver worked her way through college and graduate school and gained activism and organizing experience.
