EMILYs List Congratulates Kathy Jennings on her Reelection as Delaware Attorney General

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Kathy Jennings on her reelection as Delaware attorney general. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List celebrates Kathy Jennings’ reelection as Delaware attorney general. Jennings has served Delaware with courage and integrity, working to ensure that Delawareans and visitors to the state can continue accessing the full suite of reproductive health care services following the fall of Roe v. Wade. We’re thrilled to see Attorney General Jennings continue championing a brighter tomorrow for every person who calls Delaware home.”

The granddaughter of a World War II Marine veteran who was raised by a single mother in Wilmington, Kathy Jennings graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware before receiving her law degree from Villanova University Law School. Jennings then became one of only two women in the Wilmington office of the Delaware Department of Justice’s Criminal Division where she prosecuted cases involving homicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Jennings was then named state prosecutor and chief deputy attorney general. After her years in public service, Jennings co-founded the Oberly and Jennings law firm where she focused on civil litigation, criminal defense, and white-collar crime. Jennings was first elected Delaware attorney general in 2018.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised over $700 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure campaigns for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,400 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
