EMILYs List Endorses Muriel Bowser for Reelection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Muriel Bowser for reelection as mayor of Washington, D.C. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Mayor Muriel Bowser has been a force for change and an exceptional leader for the people of D.C. through times of crisis. She has taken bold action to improve affordable housing, diversify the economy, invest in programs and policies for families, and mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her continued leadership, we are confident the city will evolve into a more equal and just place for people to live and work. We are thrilled to stand with Mayor Bowser as she runs for a third term.”

Muriel Bowser earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Chatham University and Masters degree in Public Policy from American University. She first entered elected office as an advisory neighborhood commissioner in the Riggs Park neighborhood. In 2007, Bowser was elected to represent Ward 4 on the Council of the District of Columbia. She was reelected in 2008 and 2012. In 2015, Bowser was sworn in as mayor. In 2018, she made history as the first woman ever reelected as mayor of Washington D.C., and the first mayor to earn a second term in 16 years.
