EMILYs List Endorses Laura Gillen for Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Laura Gillen for election to represent New York’s 4th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
 
“Laura Gillen is a proven leader who has shown she has the determination to take on injustice, inequality, and corruption wherever she goes. Her work to end sexual harassment, fight price gouging, and serve our veterans is inspiring, and we know she is the leader that the people of New York’s 4th Congressional District need during these challenging times. With abortion on the ballot, maintaining a Democratic pro-choice majority in the U.S. House of Representatives is imperative, and EMILYs List is proud to support Gillen’s campaign.”
 
Laura Gillen is a mom, former Hempstead Town supervisor, and adjunct professor of law at Hofstra University running to represent New York’s 4th Congressional District. In 2017, Gillen was elected to serve as Hempstead Town supervisor, charged with managing America’s largest township, her birthplace and the township where she is raising her family. Gillen graduated from Georgetown University and New York University’s School of Law, after which she began practicing commercial litigation. Gillen has also participated in a pro bono program where she represented victims of domestic violence. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gillen began volunteering in her community to distribute protective supplies to frontline workers. She currently lives in Rockville Centre with her husband and four children.
