EMILYs List Congratulates Dina Titus on Advancing to the General Election in Nevada’s 1st Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Dina Titus on advancing to the general election for Nevada’s 1st Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“Rep. Dina Titus has been a champion for children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, and she fights to protect access to reproductive health care for all who need it. She is a selfless public servant who has dedicated her career to fighting for the rights of others and working to improve their lives, and EMILYs List is thrilled to congratulate her on advancing to the general election. Reelecting Rep. Titus will be a crucial part of ensuring that the state of Nevada remains a haven of health care access for its residents and its neighbors.”

Dina Titus grew up in Tifton, Georgia before attending the College of William and Mary, the University of Georgia for her Master’s degree, and Florida State University for her Doctorate. In 1988, she was elected to the Nevada State Senate and served as the minority leader from 1993 to 2008. She also taught American and Nevada government classes from 1979 to 2011 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Titus is serving her sixth term in the U.S House of Representatives, where she sits on the Transportation and Infrastructure, Foreign Affairs, and Homeland Security committees.
