EMILYs List Endorses Deborah Peoples for Fort Worth Mayor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Deborah Peoples in the race for mayor of Fort Worth, TX. Emily Cain, executive director of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“The EMILYs List community is thrilled to stand with Deborah Peoples in her race for mayor of Fort Worth. Throughout her life, Deborah has been a business leader, civil rights champion, and advocate for her community. As mayor, Deborah’s leadership will be essential for rebuilding Fort Worth’s economy, expanding access to health care, and bringing accountability and transparency to city hall. If elected, Deborah would be Fort Worth’s first Black woman mayor, which would make Fort Worth the largest city in the South to be led by a Black woman, and EMILYs List is proud to support her in this historic campaign.”

As a child and young adult, Deborah Peoples was inspired by the ongoing fight for civil rights. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman's University. After graduating, she served the city of Fort Worth by helping to connect residents with city resources. She later joined AT&T, where she worked her way up to a vice president position. After retiring, Deborah reignited her commitment to positive change by serving as the chair of the Tarrant County Democratic Party, where she fostered voter registration and engagement initiatives. If elected, Deborah would be the first Black woman mayor of Fort Worth.
