VoteVets and EMILYs List Women Vote Announce Program to Defeat Andrew Garbarino in New York’s 2nd Congressional District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, VoteVets and Women Vote, the independent expenditure arm of EMILYs List, announced a $500,000 digital and TV program to defeat Andrew Garbarino in the 2nd Congressional District of New York.
The ad, “Service,” is running on cable and streaming services. It features Nic Scott and Jorge Rosario, Army veterans who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.
“We’re proud to partner with VoteVets to elect Jackie Gordon to Congress where she will bring the kind of leadership we need to move forward as a country,” said Melissa Williams, executive director of Women Vote “New York voters can see through Garbarino’s attacks on Gordon. They know he’s working for the special interests, not for New Yorkers.”
“Jackie’s life is about service to others, which is something we need a lot more of, in politics, these days,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “As an Iraq War veteran, Jackie learned what it meant to put others above yourself, and that’s something she carried back with her to Long Island. It’s time for a change in Washington, and veterans like us believe Jackie is a key part of that.”
