WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is hosting a Run to Win 101 candidate training in Boston, MA on Saturday, May 4th. This training will be open to press for a limited amount of time, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

After historic wins up and down the ballot in 2018, EMILYs List remains inspired by the thousands of pro-choice Democratic women who have signed up to run for office. With Boston as one of the first stops of the cross country Run to Win training program in 2019, they hope to recruit and train even more women than last cycle.

“So much history was made in 2018, part of that was the election of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who is the first African American woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress. That couldn’t have happened without women like Ayanna, Representative Lori Trahan, and Senator Elizabeth Warren standing up to break the status quo,” said Lianna Stroster, senior director of national training at EMILYs List.  

“We’re thrilled to see this momentum continue in Massachusetts and to see so many women train to run for office across the country. We know that the only way to have diverse voices in the halls of power is for more women and candidates of color to win elections.”

EMILYs List's Run to Win training program was launched in response to the tens of thousands of pro-choice Democratic women who reached out to express interest in running for public office after the 2016 election. Since then, the group has heard from over 46,000 women.

The Run to Win 101 training program provides the basic and necessary tools — from learning the right office to run for, to telling their personal stories, to how to build a team— for first time candidates to run, and win, effective campaigns.
