EMILYs List Candidates Announce Impressive Q1 Fundraising Numbers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the first quarter fundraising numbers are released, candidates backed by EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, are leading the pack. As of today, at least five EMILYs List endorsed freshmen raised over half a million dollars and 16 are top fundraisers bringing in over $300,000. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“From the top of the year, EMILYs List has been committed to re-electing these freshmen who fought tooth and nail to win their seats, often in red districts. They're already putting in the hard work to outraise and crush their potential challengers from the start, and the latest fundraising numbers are a testament to the influence and fresh perspective they have brought to Congress since day one. It's clear from these numbers that the momentum is behind them, and we're proud to stand with them again this cycle.”
Top fundraisers include the following endorsed incumbents:
Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03)
Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02)

With strong support already behind them, representatives like Lucy McBath – who raised $482,000, more than opponents Karen Handel and Brandon Beach combined – are already surpassing their Republican challengers. Rep. Katie Hill, a powerhouse fundraiser from 2018, raised over $600,000, an eye-popping amount with more than 82% of donations coming from individual donors. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, raised more than $550,000, with over 90% of donations coming from her expansive small-dollar grassroots network.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 46,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices.
