WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Michelle Lujan Grisham on her historic victory in New Mexico’s gubernatorial race. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“After tonight, it’s clear — voters in New Mexico are eager to have Michelle Lujan Grisham in the state’s highest office. With Michelle’s passion for health care and dedication to her home state, there is no one better fit to serve as New Mexico’s governor. After two terms of disastrous GOP leadership, New Mexicans will now have an ally fighting for them in the state’s highest office. Tonight, she becomes the first Democratic Hispanic woman governor in our nation, a milestone that is long overdue. EMILYs List is proud to congratulate Michelle on a well-deserved victory.”
