SOUND THE ALARM: Matt Maasdam and Tom Barrett Exposed – The Truth Behind Their False “Made in America” Claims
In Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, Republican Rep. Tom Barrett and Matt Maasdam were both caught lying about “100%” Made in America products. Both candidates have relied on outsourcing American jobs and manufacturing while campaigning on bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
While they spend their time lying to Michiganders, it’s critical that we elect Bridget Brink, the granddaughter of Lansing auto workers, third generation union member, and a true champion for American jobs.
Please find reporting on their lies below:
According to a new American Journal News report, “Republican Rep. Tom Barrett is selling t-shirts made in Haiti, even though his online store claims they were manufactured in the United States.”
“This discrepancy is particularly striking because Barrett, who represents Michigan’s 7th District, has made boosting domestic jobs and manufacturing a focus of his reelection campaign.”
[…]
“Barrett’s campaign website sells t-shirts … A product description says the item is ‘100% cotton’ and ‘Made in USA.’”
“Photos of the t-shirt from August 2024, however, show a visible tag with the words ‘made in Haiti.’ The tag also indicates that the shirts were made by Gildan, a Canadian-based clothing company that offshores its production.”
Fox News Digital found that Matt Massdam is also guilty of lying about American-only manufacturing.
“Maasdam … co-founded PECOS Outdoor, a Texas-based outdoor table company that touts its commitment to making and sourcing products in the U.S.”
“But the 2022 shipping record obtained by Fox News Digital shows PECOS received a shipment of sample materials from a Chinese vendor …”
[…]
“Additionally, both Under Armour and Revtown, which he co-founded, outsourced production of their clothing to foreign countries.”
[…]
“none of the companies Maasdam has helped lead are free from foreign outsourcing.”
