Women Vote Releases New TV and Radio Ads Highlighting Rodney Davis’ Subservience to Corporate Special Interests
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILY's List independent expenditure arm Women Vote released new television and radio ads highlighting how Rodney Davis has prioritized his corporate donors’ priorities over his constituents’ best interests, including voting in favor of repealing health insurance for those with pre-existing conditions.
The television ad can be viewed here and will run today through October 22nd. It is the second spot in a two-week, $476,000 buy. The radio ad can be heard here and will begin running today in the Champaign, Springfield, Decatur and Bloomington markets as part of a $80,000 buy.
“Rodney Davis’ disastrous voting record proves that he has no problem serving corporate special interests at the expense of Illinois families,” said Christina Reynolds, vice president of communications at EMILYs List. “He voted to repeal health care protections for those with pre-existing conditions because that’s what his corporate donors, who gave $4 million for Davis’ loyalty, wanted. Families in the 13th District deserve a representative who will not be bought and controlled the way Davis is.”
TV SCRIPT: “Lottery”
What does it feel like to win the lottery?
Ask career politician Rodney Davis. Davis has scored over $4 million from special interests.
They scratch his back and Davis scratches theirs.
He voted for the health care repeal bill that benefits drug and insurance companies, but guts protections for Illinoisans with pre-existing conditions and imposes an “age tax” on older Americans.
When Rodney Davis and his corporate donors win, Illinois loses.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
