SOUND THE ALARM: On Notice Republicans Refuse to Condemn GOP Rep. Max Miller Amid Mounting Domestic Abuse Allegations

Republicans in key districts targeted by EMILYs List Majority Makers are refusing to condemn GOP Rep. Max Miller amid mounting domestic abuse allegations. Republicans’ refusal to confront these serious allegations speaks volumes, and the EMILYs List-endorsed women running to flip these seats are ready to provide the leadership voters deserve: leaders who will stand up, speak out, and refuse to look the other way.

  • Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) is doing something worse – actively partnering with the accused abuser. Just last week, as allegations of domestic abuse against Miller mounted, Luna filed a new joint fundraising committee with him with the FEC. When asked about it, Luna dismissed the disturbing allegations of violence against multiple women as a “private matter.” And she even called him “incredibly kind and honorable.” She was also scheduled to rally with him before organizers took the event down. Luna’s dismissive comments and continued support confirm she doesn’t care about the safety of women as long as the check clears. 
  • Fellow Ohio Republican Mike Turner (OH-10) is choosing silence. When asked directly on CBS’s “Face the Nation” whether there should be an ethics investigation, Turner dodged the question, calling it a “court matter.” Turner has declined to call for Miller to step down. As his opponent Kristina Knickerbocker put it: “His silence isn’t neutral. It’s a choice to put politics over basic human decency […] I believe women. Ohio deserves leaders who will too.”
  • And across the country, eight Republicans being targeted by EMILYs List Majority Makers have accepted more than $70,000 from Max Miller’s leadership PAC. As the disturbing abuse allegations continue to pile up against him, none of them will go on record to confirm whether they will return the donations. Republican Congressional candidates Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Zach Nunn (IA-03), Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07), Mike Lawler (NY-17), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), Jen Kiggans (VA-02), Derrick Van Orden (WI-03), and gubernatorial candidate John James (MI) have all stayed silent on whether they will return their share of Miller’s money.
