EMILY's List on Trump's “Fighter” Comments About Greg Gianforte

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, Donald Trump went to Montana to stump for vulnerable Republican incumbent Rep. Greg Gianforte. During his speech, Trump referred to Gianforte as a “fighter” — an apparent nod to the time Gianforte assaulted a reporter just hours before his election. In response, Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY's List, released the following response:

“It's no surprise that the best thing Donald Trump can say about Greg Gianforte is a joke about when he assaulted a reporter. Gianforte has been a disaster during his time in office, and has fought only for rich millionaires like himself. Trump's comments are just one more reminder why we can't wait to see Kathleen Williams — an actual, proven fighter for the people of Montana — win in November.”
