EMILYs List Announces Additional Texas State Supreme Court Endorsements

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Justice Chari Kelly and Justice Gisela Triana for Texas state Supreme Court. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Justice Chari Kelly and Justice Gisela Triana for Texas Supreme Court. Justice Kelly and Justice Triana have a proven track record of defending freedom and upholding the rule of law. There are four seats on the Texas Supreme Court up for election this year and in all four races, EMILYs List-endorsed women are the Democratic nominee.”
EMILYs List previously endorsed Justice Maggie Ellis and Judge Kristen Brauchle Hawkins for Texas state Supreme Court.
Justice Chari Kelly has been a committed defender of the Constitution by ensuring fair trials and upholding justice. She has ruled on a diverse range of cases, including those related to COVID-19, environmental concerns, and criminal justice reform, among others. Chari served in the United States Army as a captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) and was a paratrooper. She also successfully defended Texans by suing pharmaceutical companies that defrauded the Medicaid program, recovering millions of dollars on behalf of taxpayers. She is a champion who upholds the rule of law and protects Texans’ rights.
Justice Gisela Triana is an experienced judge, in both criminal and civil courts. She previously served for 14 years as the 200th District Court judge, and also the Travis County Court at Law judge, where she is recognized for stabilizing the Court’s docket and disposing of a massive backlog. She began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Travis County Attorney’s Office, where her work included representing victims of domestic violence and later served as the director of the trial division in that office. Gisela is running for Texas Supreme Court as a champion who protects the rights of all Texans.
