EMILYs List Endorses Bold Women Leaders In KY-06, IA-02, and CO-05 Congressional Districts

December 3, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Cherlynn Stevenson for Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District, Jessica Killin for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District, and state Rep. Lindsay James for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District as a part of its aggressive approach to flip the U.S. House in 2026.

Early in the year, EMILYs List recognized potential opportunities in these districts, putting the Republican incumbents “On Notice” as targets for recruitment in the effort to take back the House majority. Two of the races, Kentucky’s 6th and Iowa’s 2nd districts, are now open seats. Stevenson, Killin, and James’ strong backgrounds and ability to connect with voters in their district about the issues that matter most have put these districts in play for Democrats in 2026. EMILYs List is committed to competing in races across the country – including in places Democrats have not previously invested in.

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Cherlynn Stevenson, Jessica Killin, and Lindsay James as we work to flip the U.S. House in 2026. November’s election proved that Democratic women are at the center of the fight to take back power and all three of these leaders are ready to win these critical seats. As Republicans’ reckless agenda drives costs higher and makes life harder for millions of Americans, we need the bold leadership of candidates like Stevenson, Killin, and James, who are ready to flip these seats and get to work to deliver for their communities,” said EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler.

Cherlynn Stevenson is running in Kentucky’s open 6th Congressional District. She has spent her career serving her community, including in the state General Assembly, where she served as the House Minority Caucus Chair. In the Assembly, she successfully worked across the aisle to bring new jobs and industry to Kentucky, protect access to health care, and increase funding for public schools. Cherlynn is running for Congress as a Mountain Democrat, drawing on her roots in Appalachia, working-class values and focus on affordability, to win back rural voters in the district.

Jessica Killin is running for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District against Republican extremist and Trump loyalist Rep. Jeff Crank. Raised in Colorado Springs by two public school educators, Jessica learned the importance of service and went on to serve our country as a captain and paratrooper in the U.S. Army. She then spent her career fighting for veterans at USAA and in leadership roles on Capitol Hill and at the White House. Jessica’s seen firsthand the chaos in Washington and she will use her experience in the military, private sector, and federal government to make Congress work again. She’s running for Congress to deliver meaningful results, lower costs, expand affordable housing and health care, and protect Colorado’s Space Command.

State Rep. Lindsay James is running in Iowa’s open 2nd Congressional District. She served her community for her entire career — first as a chaplain, then in the state legislature, and now running for Congress. In the state legislature, she worked across the aisle to deliver results for Iowans, like expanding access to affordable insulin, championing affordable housing and mental health care. Lindsay is running for Congress to level the playing field for all Iowans, bring good-paying jobs to the state, and fight for health care.
