EMILY's List Statement on Shameful Sisolak-Allied Ad in Nevada Governor's Race

Washington, D.C. — Today, an outside group aligned with Steve Sisolak released a shameful ad in the Nevada governor’s race that falsely alleges that Chris Giunchigliani is against tougher penalties for sexual abusers and increased protections for victims of childhood sexual abuse. Christina Reynolds, vice president of communications at EMILY's List, released the following statement in response: 

“Steve Sisolak has been running an incredibly negative campaign, but this latest ad is beyond the pale. While in the legislature, Chris Giunchigliani fought tooth and nail to get a law passed that increased penalties for offenders and strengthened protections for victims. Just last week, she bravely came forward and shared that both she and her sister are victims of sexual abuse. It’s disgusting that Steve Sisolak’s allies followed immediately with a false ad questioning Chris’ toughness against child predators. Steve Sisolak must call on his allies to take down this ad immediately.”
