FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following Helena Moreno’s victory in the New Orleans mayoral election, EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List congratulates Helena Moreno on her decisive victory in the New Orleans mayoral election. Helena is a tireless fighter for New Orleans families and communities. As mayor she’s going to help businesses thrive, expand opportunity for every child, and build a city that reflects the strength and spirit of its people. We are proud to stand with her as she makes history as New Orlean’s first Latina mayor.”

Helena Moreno currently serves on the New Orleans City Council where she is council president. She has built a reputation as a tireless advocate on behalf of the people of New Orleans. As council president and as a former state legislator, she broadened economic opportunity and knocked down barriers for small businesses, increased safety and reformed our criminal justice system, promoted gender equality, led on climate action, and protected and uplifted the most vulnerable in our society.
