VIEW AD, “Fight” HERE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 18, 2020 – Women Vote, the independent expenditure arm of EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, today released a new television ad in Montana highlighting Whitney Williams’ opposition to the construction of the Smith River copper mine and her commitment to protecting Montana’s public lands.

The ad is part of a nearly $700,000 television program targeting Democratic primary voters in the Missoula, Billings, Great Falls, Butte-Bozeman and Helena markets along with addressable cable, and premium digital OTT placements. The ad campaign begins May 19 and runs through the primary Election Day. The ad features Montana’s popular Smith River, a major economic driver in the state, which is at risk after the state approved a permit for a Canadian mining company allowing it to begin construction this year on a copper mine within miles of the Smith River. Williams opposes the Smith River mine and is committed to stopping its construction and protecting all public lands as Governor of Montana.

SCRIPT: “Fight”

Narrator:

The Smith River.

A Montana treasure…and an economic driver.

But now, a Canadian mining company will put it all at risk.

When it comes to our public lands, Whitney Williams is the clear choice for governor.

Whitney Williams will fight to stop the Smith River mine. And she’ll stand up for ALL our public lands.

Whitney Williams. The public lands choice for Governor.

Women Vote is EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm which works to educate and mobilize women voters on behalf of pro-choice Democratic women candidates, and help turn out voters for Democrats up and down the ballot. Launched in 1995, the EMILY's List Women Vote project combines polling and research, sophisticated message testing, the latest innovations in data and technology as well as good old-fashioned voter contact to mobilize millions of women voters across the country.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
