EMILYs List Endorses Six Women Leaders for the Ohio State Legislature

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed six women leaders for the Ohio state Legislature. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse these six incredible pro-choice Democratic women who are ready to create public policy that works for every Ohio family. Whether it’s advocating for expanded access to affordable health care and treatment in the midst of a devastating opiate crisis, or fighting for better public schools and a quality education, these candidates have proven they have the grit and compassion it takes to lead. EMILYs List is proud to stand with them in their fight for change across the Buckeye State.”

EMILYs List endorsed the following slate of candidates:

Randi Clites (HD-75)

Mary Lightbody (HD-19)

Beth Liston (HD-21)

Allison Russo (HD-24)

Sharon Sweda (SD-13)

Bride Sweeney (HD-14)

These endorsements are in addition to 13 candidates previously endorsed by EMILYs List for the Ohio state Legislature and secretary of state, all of whom advanced through their primaries on May 8, 2018.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
