EMILYs List to Honor 40th Anniversary at National Gala

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, Rep. Sarah McBride, Hon. Deb Haaland, former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and more will commemorate 40 years of electing Democratic pro-choice women

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, May 7, EMILYs List — the nation’s largest resource for women in politics — will host its 2025 annual We Are EMILY National Gala in Washington, D.C. This year, the program will mark the 40th anniversary of EMILYs List by recognizing the impact of women’s leadership across the last four decades, as well as the unfinished work that lies ahead. Thanks to the hard work and determination of EMILYs List that transformed the political landscape over the last 40 years, Democratic pro-choice women are at the center of every important fight against MAGA extremism, including the fight to win back power this cycle.

The event will feature EMILYs List-endorsed candidates and elected officials, including remarks from Speaker Emerita and U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, U.S. Rep. Sarah McBride, candidate for governor in New Mexico Deb Haaland, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler, and EMILYs List Board Chair Rebecca Haile.

During the program, the We Are EMILY Award will be presented to Founder and Chair Emerita Ellen R. Malcolm, and the 2025 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award will be presented to Virginia state Del. Adele McClure, a groundbreaking public servant and fierce advocate for working families.
