EMILYs List Statement on the North Carolina Republican Legislature Passing Gerrymandered Congressional Maps

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, North Carolina Republicans in the state legislature, at the demand of President Trump, once again voted to gerrymander the state’s congressional districts for the second straight legislative session. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“It’s been less than a year since North Carolina Republicans tried to steal an election they couldn’t win and now they are at it again — following Donald Trump’s orders to manipulate their maps because they know their reckless agenda is going to cost them the House majority. Our message to them is clear — we are not backing down from this fight and Democratic women are going to secure a House majority in 2026. In North Carolina, EMILYs List has been working to build power for decades by backing bold leaders who are going to hold Republicans accountable and win key elections at the center of power — in the North Carolina legislature and on the state Supreme Court.”
