FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced she will not run for reelection to the U.S. Senate in 2026 after her current term ends. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement celebrating Sen. Shaheen’s career:
“Today, EMILYs List celebrates the remarkable career of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a trailblazer whose lifetime of service has made an indelible impact on New Hampshire and our country. Sen. Shaheen was the first woman in the country to be elected as both governor and senator. She centered her career on making a difference in the lives of the people of New Hampshire. From overturning a century-old abortion ban and creating a bill of rights for sexual assault survivors to fighting on behalf of veterans and leading action against forever chemicals in our drinking water, Sen. Shaheen has always been an advocate for policies that strengthen communities and advance equality. Her leadership has been defined by an unwavering commitment to making government work for the people it serves.
“We are deeply grateful for Sen. Shaheen’s decades of service and the legacy she leaves behind. Though her time in elected office may be coming to a close, the impact of her work will be felt for generations to come. Thank you Sen. Shaheen, for your leadership, your vision, and your tireless dedication to the people of New Hampshire and this country.”
