EMILYs List Statement on Republican Vote to Choose Billionaires Over Working Families
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the early morning hours, House Republicans voted to pass a devastating budget reconciliation bill that cuts basic services, including Medicaid, food assistance, and Social Security, to provide tax benefits to the wealthy. This bill will kick nearly 14 million Americans off their health insurance alone and will cost working-class families thousands of dollars more. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement in response:
“This bill isn’t beautiful, it’s bullshit.
Republicans rammed through their wildly unpopular budget reconciliation bill knowing it’s indefensible — that’s why they hid from voters, working in the middle of the night to slash essential services for American families. By prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires, Trump and the Republican Party are endangering the lives of millions and making life less affordable for everyone but the ultra-wealthy. Let’s be clear — every House Republican who voted for this bill chose to abandon working families to give their friends tax breaks. We see you, voters see you, and we will replace you in 2026.”
