EMILYs List Statement on Rep. Adelita Grijalva’s Swearing In
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Adelita Grijalva is set to be sworn in as a member of Congress, after seven weeks of intentional delays by U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Republicans for their own political gain. Rep.-elect Grijalva won her special election for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District on September 23, by nearly 40 points. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Mike Johnson’s game is up. After Republicans intentionally delayed Adelita Grijalva’s swearing in for seven weeks in an effort to avoid releasing the Epstein files, Arizonans will finally have a representative to fight for them in Congress. Adelita Grijalva is ready to hit the ground running in her first day in office, demanding accountability, fighting back against extremism, and working to defend Arizonans’ health care.”
