EMILYs List Statement on Josh Svaty’s Record on Choice
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, Democratic candidates for governor of Kansas debated a range of issues, including their stances on abortion. Christina Reynolds, vice president of communications at EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Despite the rhetoric thrown around at last night’s debate, the fact remains that Senator Laura Kelly is the only candidate running for Kansas governor who has a strong, consistent legislative record on protecting women’s rights to make their own health care decisions. Josh Svaty voted to restrict abortion rights 11 times while he was in the state Legislature, and the other candidates don’t have legislative records to back up their claims to be pro-choice. Now more than ever, Kansans need a governor who will protect a woman’s constitutional right to choose. Senator Kelly is the only candidate whom voters can trust to protect access to reproductive care and fight to expand access to health care and economic opportunity.”
