EMILYs List Statement on House Democrats Passing ACA Credits, Advancing the Fight for Affordable Health Care
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. House Democrats advanced their proposal to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, which preserve affordable health care for millions of Americans. A small group of Republicans flipped to support the proposal, after allowing the subsidies to expire, causing Americans’ health care costs to skyrocket by 114%. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“House Democrats fought hard for months to lower health care costs for the American people, and Republicans worked to block them every step of the way. The Republicans who flipped aren’t fooling anyone. It’s clear they’re attempting to paper over the fact that their actions doubled Americans’ health care costs. EMILYs List women are going to flip these Republicans’ seats, take back the House majority this November, and lower costs for Americans.”
EMILYs List put these Republicans “On Notice” for continually failing to put the people they represent first. They can’t distract voters from their real records of slashing affordable health care.
