FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Whitney Fox for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Whitney Fox is a strong community advocate and EMILYs List is proud to endorse her for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. She has worked to provide access to safe, reliable and affordable transportation, and she is committed to ensuring freedom and equality for all. We are confident in her ability to fight for our reproductive rights against anti-abortion extremists and we know she is the right candidate to defeat Rep. Anna Paulina Luna. EMILYs List is thrilled to support her in this election, as a key seat to regain Democratic control in the U.S. House.”
Whitney Fox is a strategic communications and public policy professional who was born and raised by her single mother in the Tampa Bay area. She is a graduate of the University Central Florida and most recently served as the communications director for the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority. Fox has advocated at the local, state, and federal level for public transportation solutions and successfully secured funding for programs dedicated to improving public transportation, such as the SunRunner Bus Rapid Transit Service. Fox is committed to ensuring freedom and equality for all, access to quality public education, affordable health care, protecting our reproductive freedoms, and safeguarding our environment. Fox currently lives in the Tampa Bay area with her husband and two young daughters.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
