EMILYs List Endorses Three Women Leaders for the Minnesota Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed three women leaders for the Minnesota Senate. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse three outstanding leaders for the Minnesota Senate. These women are dedicated public servants who have served as voices for those whose voices too often go unheard. As Minnesota continues to mourn the murder of George Floyd and begins to take important steps forward, these women have gone above and beyond to listen to their communities and show their support. In the state Senate, they will use their experiences as educators, health care professionals, and activists to fight for Minnesota’s communities. EMILYs List is confident that they will continue to advocate for progress and we are proud to endorse their campaigns.”

EMILYs List endorsed the following women:
Aleta Borrud (SD-26)
Mary Kunesh-Podein (SD-41)
Erin Murphy (SD-64)

These endorsements are in addition to 21 previously endorsed EMILYs List candidates in Minnesota: Rita Albrecht (SD-05), Sara Flick (SD-25), Bonnie Westlin (SD-34), Ann Johnson Stewart (SD-44), Susan Kent (SD-53), Karla Bigham (SD-54), Lindsey Port (SD-56), Kelly Morrison (HD-33B), Kristin Bahner (HD-34B), Erin Koegel (HD-37A), Amanda Matchett (HD-37B), Ami Wazlawik (HD-38B), Shelly Christensen (HD-39B), Kelly Moller (HD-42A), Ginny Klevorn (HD-44A), Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn (HD-48B), Heather Edelson (HD-49A), Ruth Richardson (HD-52B), Anne Claflin (HD-54A), Kelsey Waits (HD-54B), and Emma Greenman (HD-63B).

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices.
