EMILYs List Endorses State Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed state Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Sarah Trone Garriott has a proven record of winning tough races and flipping Republican districts — that’s why EMILYs List is proud to endorse her for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. A mom, minister, and fierce advocate for working families, Sarah has fought to lower costs, expand affordable health care, and restore reproductive freedom. Iowa deserves a leader who will put people first in Washington — not a rubber stamp for Donald Trump. We’re proud to stand with Sarah to take back the U.S. House.”

State Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott has always been called to serve her community, as a mom, a minister, a nonprofit leader, and a state senator. In 2020, she ran for public office and successfully flipped a Republican-held seat in the Iowa state Senate. In 2022, as a result of redistricting, Sarah moved her family to take on then-Senate President Jake Chapman and won by three points. In 2024, she defended her district even though President Trump won it the same year. She is the only Democrat in Iowa to flip multiple districts while representing a district won by Donald Trump. Throughout her service in the state Senate, Sarah has defined herself as an advocate for working families: championing accessible and affordable health care, mental health programs, support for public schools, paid family leave, quality child care, and reproductive rights. Now, she is answering the call to serve in Washington — ensuring that all Iowans have a voice.
