FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed state Del. Debra Gardner for Virginia’s state Senate District 15. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“State Del. Debra Gardner has a proven record of standing up for Virginia families – from advocating for fair wages to fighting for affordable health care. Earlier this month, EMILYs List candidates in Virginia demonstrated once again what we’ve long known: leaders like Del. Gardner who truly ‘get it’ are the key to winning tough elections up and down the ballot. With Virginia leaders on the frontlines protecting Virginia families from the chaos coming out of Washington, it’s more important than ever to elect bold leaders with a vision to create a future that works for everyone. EMILYs List is thrilled to stand with Del. Gardner in this election and hold this critical seat in Virginia’s closely-divided state Senate.”
State Del. Debra Gardner currently serves in the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 76. As a single mom, small business owner, and former social worker, state Del. Gardner has spent her life devoted to bettering the lives of the working families in her community. After serving at the chief deputy level of three state agencies and devoting countless hours to organizations that provide aid and services to the community, she went on to represent District 76 in the Virginia House of Delegates where she has protected survivors of abuse and fought for fair wages and affordable health care. A resident of Chesterfield County for more than 30 years, she is now running for state Senate to continue fighting for her constituents.
