EMILYs List Endorses Rep. Sylvia Garcia for Reelection to Texas’s 29th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Rep. Sylvia Garcia for Texas’s 29th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Republicans in the state did Trump’s dirty work at the expense of Texans. Rep. Sylvia Garica is refusing to back down. She’s a trailblazer with a record of lowering health care costs, standing up for working people, and putting the people she represents first. EMILYs List is proud to stand with her in this election and we look forward to taking back the U.S. House together.” 

Rep. Sylvia Garcia has built a career delivering for working families in Houston and across Texas. As Houston’s city controller and later Harris County commissioner, she fought for transparency, accountability, and economic opportunity. In the Texas Senate, she passed landmark laws to combat human trafficking, strengthen school bus safety, and protect victims of online abuse. Since 2018, she has carried that record to Congress, where she has championed reproductive rights, immigrant communities, veterans, and affordable health care — while also making history as one of the first Latinas ever elected to represent Texas in Congress.
