EMILYs List Endorses Rebecca Cooke for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Rebecca Cooke for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke in our fight to take back the U.S. House. As a small business owner, waitress, and community leader, she knows the importance of bringing working class voices to Congress to fight for everyday people — not billionaires. Meanwhile, her opponent, Derrick Van Orden, is running scared, refusing to face the people of Western Wisconsin, while pushing an agenda that benefits the wealthy at the expense of hardworking families. Cooke is the strongest candidate to win this critical race, and we are proud to stand with her.”
Rebecca Cooke is a small business owner and nonprofit leader, who grew up working on her family’s dairy farm in Eau Claire. At 28, she started a small retail business in downtown Eau Claire. In 2016, Cooke founded the Red Letter Grant, a nonprofit providing startup capital and mentorship to women entrepreneurs which helped over 50 businesses launch successfully. Recognizing her leadership, Gov. Tony Evers made her the youngest person ever appointed to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Now, Cooke is running for Congress to fight for the economic wellbeing, rights, and freedoms of working families and rural communities.
