EMILYs List Endorses Rachel Hunt for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed state Sen. Rachel Hunt for lieutenant governor of North Carolina. EMILYs List Senior Vice President of Communications and Content Christina Reynolds released the following statement:
“State Sen. Rachel Hunt has shown herself to be a champion in the state legislature that North Carolinians can trust, and she is ready to take the fight for our rights to the lieutenant governor’s office. Radical Republicans are working overtime to restrict reproductive freedom in North Carolina, but we know that Hunt will work harder. EMILYs List is proud to support her candidacy for lieutenant governor, and we look forward to helping her flip this seat blue and usher in a new era of leadership.”
State Sen. Rachel Hunt is the current state senator for North Carolina’s 42nd Senate District. Prior to being elected to that office in 2022, she served two terms as the representative for the state’s 103rd House District. Hunt is also a lawyer, entrepreneur, and the daughter of former four-term North Carolina Gov. Jim Hunt, whom she credits with instilling in her a passion for public service and democracy. In the state legislature, Hunt has been a champion for education, health care, and North Carolina’s families, and she is running for lieutenant governor to bring “honor and integrity back to the office.”
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
