EMILYs List Endorses Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey's 11th District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Mikie Sherrill is an exemplary public servant, and EMILY's List is proud to endorse her in New Jersey's 11th Congressional District. From her time in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot flying missions in the Middle East and Europe to her tenure in the U.S. Attorney's office prosecuting federal cases to her role as a mother of four, Mikie has shown grace under pressure, commitment to her values, and passion for justice. She is precisely the type of leader we need in Congress, defending against Donald Trump's attacks on our democracy and fundamental rights—and she is already hard at work building the campaign organization it takes to win.
“Mikie has shown throughout her career that she is someone who will step up and fight for what is right. One cannot say the same about Rodney Frelinghuysen. Congressman Frelinghuysen voted for the disastrous Republican health care bill that would leave 23 million Americans uninsured while increasing premiums. He also continues to support Donald Trump's dangerous agenda, which would restrict reproductive health care access for women, end key environmental protections, and endanger our civil rights. And given certain revelations around Frelinghuysen's extremely questionable judgement and temperament, it is time that New Jerseyans in the 11th District demand better. That is why we are so proud to be supporting Mikie Sherrill's campaign to become their champion in Washington.”

She is taking on Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, an extreme Republican whose top priority is advancing the GOP’s dangerous agenda that hurts the working families he was elected to serve. Donald Trump won New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District by less than a single percentage point in 2016, and the path to taking back the House runs right through districts just like this one. Mikie has what it takes to win this fight.
