EMILYs List Endorses Mary Peltola in Alaska’s U.S. Senate Race

January 12, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed former U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola for a critical flip in Alaska’s U.S. Senate seat. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Mary Peltola is a proven fighter for Alaska — putting families first, protecting fisheries and resources, and taking on the special interests and broken system in Washington to deliver for Alaska. A proven statewide winner with the independence, toughness, and integrity to put Alaska first, Mary is well positioned to defeat Dan Sullivan and flip this seat. EMILYs List is proud to endorse Mary on Day One — because the path to a Democratic Senate majority runs through Alaska, and this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to flip this seat.”

Mary Peltola is a mother, grandmother, and lifelong Alaskan who grew up in Kwethluk and Bethel fishing with her father. At 24, Mary was elected to the Alaska state House of Representatives. She served in the legislature for ten years, rebuilding and chairing the Bush Caucus, which helped to pass legislation and influence budgets that improved lives in rural Alaska. Mary made history in 2022 as the first Alaska Native elected to federal office and the first Democratic woman to represent Alaska in Washington. Always going above and beyond to represent every single Alaskan, her mantra, “Fish, Family, and Freedom,” embodies the core values of the state. Now, she’s running for Senate because politicians in Washington are putting themselves and the special interests funding their campaigns first and leaving Alaskans behind. Mary has never been afraid to stand up to those in power to put Alaskans first, and she’ll continue to fight for Alaska’s future in the U.S. Senate.
