EMILYs List Endorses Kristen Carlson in Florida's 15th District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kristen Carlson for Congress in Florida's 15th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Kristen Carlson is a committed advocate for justice who is running for Congress to expand economic fairness and opportunity for Floridians. She helped save and protect the Florida orange industry from out-of-state companies’ wrongful practices, and has since continued to serve her community as an attorney in private practice. Kristen plans to fight for working families in Washington and be a voice for Central Florida.
“Kristen is running for the seat left open by retiring Republican Congressman Dennis Ross, who has been a strong supporter of the destructive Trump agenda. This is a can’t-miss opportunity to help an outstanding candidate flip an open seat, and Kristen has what it takes to win this fight. The EMILYs List community fully intends to support Kristen in her fight to win this seat and deliver the majority to Democrats.”
As former legal counsel for the Florida Department of Citrus, Kristen Carlson fought to protect Florida’s orange industry from wrongful business practices by out-of-state companies. She is a respected expert in food law and has held leadership positions at the National Juice Products Association and the Florida Citrus Processors Association. Kristen has been actively involved in her community, serving on the board of the Lakeland Boys and Girls Club and helping start a nonprofit to encourage millennial voting. She was raised in a military family and grew up moving around the world before attending college and law school in Florida. Kristen then settled in Lakeland, where she has lived for nearly four decades.
