EMILYs List Endorses Katie Porter to be California’s First Woman Governor

October 6, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Katie Porter for governor of California. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Katie Porter has spent her career holding the powerful accountable, fighting to lower costs, and taking on Wall Street and Trump administration officials to deliver results for California’s working families. At a time when President Trump and his allies are attacking Californians’ health care and making their lives more expensive, Katie is the proven leader California needs. EMILYs List was proud to be an early supporter of Katie in 2018 when she flipped a critical congressional district, and now California has the chance to make history by helping us elect Katie as the state’s first woman governor.”

Former Rep. Katie Porter is a single mom, a former congresswoman, and a consumer advocate who has been a champion for Californians throughout her career. In 2018, she was elected to Congress, flipping a seat previously held by Republicans for 75 years. During her time in Congress, Katie set the standard for holding the powerful accountable during congressional hearings. She took on Big Pharma for price gouging cancer drugs, held Big Oil responsible for cleaning up pollution, and stood up to the leaders of big banks when they tried to swindle Americans. As governor, Katie Porter will fight tirelessly to protect Californians from Trump’s dangerous policies and lower costs for the state.
