EMILYs List Endorses Joyce Craig for Governor of New Hampshire
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Joyce Craig for governor of New Hampshire. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Joyce Craig for governor of New Hampshire. Craig is a public servant who has years of experience working for her community. As mayor of Manchester, she invested in public schools, reduced violent crime, and provided affordable housing. We are thrilled to support Joyce in this election as she sets out to protect Granite Staters’ fundamental freedoms and defeat anti-abortion extremist Kelly Ayotte.”
Joyce Craig is a lifelong Granite Stater who began her public service career in 2008. As a mother of three young children and a graduate of Manchester public schools, she was inspired to run for office because she wanted to change the direction of Manchester’s public schools. Craig was elected to the Board of School Committee and served as Alderman for six years. In 2017, Joyce became the first woman elected mayor of Manchester and the first Democrat elected since 2005, defeating a four-term Republican incumbent. As mayor of Manchester, Craig has attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in economic development, reduced violent crime by nearly 40%, invested in public schools, and supported the creation of over 2,000 housing units.
EMILYs List previously endorsed Craig for her mayoral campaign in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
