EMILYs List Endorses Gov. Katie Hobbs for Reelection as Arizona Governor
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs for reelection. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Gov. Katie Hobbs has proven time and again that she is a fearless leader who will always do what’s right for Arizonans — even when it’s hard. As governor, she led the fight to repeal Arizona’s archaic 1864 total abortion ban, made birth control available over the counter, and has been a consistent, clear voice for reproductive freedom. EMILYs List is proud to endorse Gov. Hobbs because it is critical that we reelect a battle-tested leader with a record of fighting for working families.”
Gov. Katie Hobbs was born and raised in Arizona. The first social worker elected governor in America, she has fought for people across the state, expanding Medicaid and providing health care for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans. As secretary of state, she delivered a historically secure election for Arizona and, despite Republicans pushing election denial conspiracies, she fearlessly defended the will of Arizona voters. Since her election in 2022, Gov. Hobbs has lowered the cost of housing, including making an investment of $165 million to create thousands of affordable units for working-class Arizonans, and brokered a bipartisan $17.6 billion state budget that secured increased funding for first responders, social services, education, Medicaid, childcare, and more for working families. As a fierce defender of reproductive freedom, Gov. Hobbs also signed an executive order that expanded reproductive care by protecting patients from out-of-state investigations, and repealed the draconian 1864 abortion ban.
