EMILYs List Endorses Five More Candidates for Election in Massachusetts
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed five more candidates for election in Massachusetts. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
“Massachusetts is a leader in protecting reproductive freedom in the U.S. As one of only 10 states which have adopted constitutional amendments to protect abortion, it has never been more important to elect more Democratic pro-choice women in the Commonwealth. These women have demonstrated their unequivocal commitment to fighting anti-choice agendas everywhere, and we are confident that they will be fierce and compassionate advocates for each person in the Bay State. We’re proud to stand with them in the fight for our fundamental freedoms.”
- Tara Jacobs (MA-Governor’s Council, District 8)
- Susan “Su” Moran (MA-SD Plymouth and Barnstable)
- Dawne Shand (MA-HD 1st Essex)
- Kristin Kassner (MA-HD 2nd Essex)
- Adrianne Ramos (MA-HD 14th Essex)
These endorsements are in addition to the eight previously endorsed EMILYs List legislative candidates headed to the general election in Massachusetts: Robyn Kennedy (MA-SD 1st Worcester), Becca Rausch (MA-SD Norfolk, Worcester, & Middlesex), Sarah Peake (MA-HD 4th Barnstable), Estela Reyes (MA-HD 4th Essex), Tram Nguyen (MA-HD 18th Essex), Shirley Arriaga (MA-HD 8th Hampden), Erika Uyterhoeven (MA-HD 27th Middlesex), and Judith García (MA-HD 11th Suffolk).
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised over $700 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure campaigns for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,400 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
